Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Seaman's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Our Crushing National Debt: Our nearly $20 trillion debt is a huge threat to our national security and way of life. How? Well, if the Dollar were to suddenly devalue or flat out collapse, we will all experience a severe loss in our wealth and purchasing power. Imagine the dollars in your wallet being worth half or less of what they are today, along with your savings and retirement accounts.
  • Foreign Policy & Terrorism: Our government’s longstanding policy of intervention in the Middle East and around the globe has produced disastrous results. Thousands of brave Americans killed, tens of thousands of brave Americans injured, trillions of our dollars spent and yet terrorism is on the rise worldwide. Unfortunately, Kevin Cramer and others in Congress continue to vote for more intervention such as sending more money, weapons and troops into unstable regions with no plan.
  • Taxes: If elected, I will immediately co-sponsor H.R. 25, the FairTax Act. This bill has 73 cosponsors in the House and will abolish the IRS and all federal income taxes including personal, estate, gift, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, self-employment and corporate tax, and replace them with a national sales tax.
  • The Economy: While the current administration and the mainstream media do their best to spin our “economic recovery”, most of us know better. It only takes a cursory glance beyond the headlines to see the real condition of the economy and the false recovery they are touting. Our labor participation rate is at it’s lowest in 40 years, nearly half of all Americans are on government assistance and real wages haven’t grown in over a decade.
  • 4th Amendment Rights: North Dakotans need a Representative in Washington that will protect their privacy and liberties. That’s exactly what I will do. In the name of security, our government has granted themselves power to invade our personal privacy nearly at will. For example, without nearly any media coverage, a massive surveillance bill was snuck in to the recently passed “Omnibus” legislation under the guise of “cybersecurity”. This bill allows the government to more easily access your personal information and share it with the NSA.
