I am a Louisvillian, born and raised. I attended St. Denis Grade School, Butler Traditional High School, and the University of Louisville. With over 20 years of experience in politics and government, I have built a reputation for being able to hit the ground running. My extensive knowledge and experience have allowed me to build relationships and coalitions with key stakeholders at every level of government. My passion for public service and my ability to connect with people from all walks of life enable me to be an effective legislator. If you are looking for someone to represent you who knows their way around the political landscape, look no further.
  • Economic Growth Job growth and job creation are critical components of building the community in which we live. I am dedicated to being a part of a team that not only creates jobs but also ensures that corporations are good citizens within their respective communities. I have always been passionate about making a difference and working towards a better future for everyone. By collaborating with like-minded professionals, I believe that we can achieve great things together.
  • Women's and Human Rights My unwavering support for equal rights and justice for all is one of the driving forces of my campaign. I believe that every individual, regardless of their gender, race, or background, deserves the same opportunities to succeed. As a candidate, I am dedicated to promoting fairness, respect, and inclusion for all. I am proud to have the support of a wide range of supporters who share my commitment to creating a more equitable world. Together, we can build a brighter future for our community and all those who call it home.
  • Improving Education I believe that education is the foundation of our future and I am committed to ensuring that every child in our community has access to a high-quality education. From universal pre-K to secondary and post-secondary education, I will fight for better funding, access to resources, and improved educational opportunities. Our children are our future, and I promise to ensure that they have the support and resources they need to achieve their dreams, no matter their background or circumstances.
Education, Women’s Rights, Human Rights, Worker’s Rights, and Public Safety
I believe our leaders should be public servants, not in it for themselves. My commitment is to honesty and transparency, voters should be able to ask me any question and get a straight answer. I also believe in honesty in government, and will speak truth to power and stand up to moneyed and established interests that are hurting the working people, women, seniors, and minorities in my district.
My grandfather always said that we are responsible for leaving things better than we found them. If elected, and during the tenure of which I would serve, I would hope that the 42nd District would be more prosperous, have safer neighborhoods, and see more economic development projects.
My first job was as a ball field manager when I was 14 years old. I cut the grass and maintained the football and baseball fields between games. I also umpired baseball and softball games and was a scorekeeper for basketball games. I worked this job until I graduated from high school.
It is important for both the governor and the state legislature to have a meaningful working relationship, regardless of partisan affiliation and majority party control.
State Senator Denise Harper Angel. During her 20 year tenure in the state Senate, Denise passed more legislation than any other Democrat. She was a successful legislator because she understood the importance of building relationships and working across the aisle.
