I'm running for Congress because I have three children and five grandchildren. I want them to live, as I have, in the greatest, freest, and most wonderful nation on earth. We are living in very challenging times. America stands at a critical turning point in its history. We will, as a people, either descend down a dark road of third-world socialism, widespread poverty, big government control and the loss of individual rights and liberties. Or we will boldly and courageously reaffirm the conservative values that have made Texas and America great. Despite inevitable shortcomings and occasional contradictions, free market capitalism has given America the strongest, most resilient and most prosperous economy - and the highest standard of living - in the history of the world. Socialism, on the other hand, has littered the historical landscape with its tragic and costly failures. Its human toll is incalculable. I'm running for Congress this year because the stakes are so high for our nation. Our God-given and constitutionally-secured liberty hangs in a precarious balance. The beliefs, values and principles that have made us great are under assault and threat across our nation, and not least in Washington. I'm running to represent the millions of Americans who work hard, cherish their faith, love their families, salute our flag and stand for our national anthem. Freedom is a fragile thing. It is not an automatic inheritance. Freedom is not free. It must be fought for.
  • I am running for Congress to be a bold and courageous voice for the conservative values that have made Texas and America great.
  • I believe the United States is the greatest, freest and most wonderful nation in the history of the world. My conviction about the exceptionalism of America is the guide for my political beliefs and philosophy.
  • I support congressional term limits. The longevity of career politicians is one of the biggest causes of public apathy and cynicism. Our founders never intended for there to be lifetime congressmen.
Protecting our American Constitution, especially the First Amendment.

Protecting and helping American families
Working to expand economic opportunity and prosperity for all Americans
Helping American veterans and their families

Keeping America strong and secure in the world as a beacon of hope, justice and freedom.
Abraham Lincoln

Ronald Reagan
Winston Churchill
Martin Luther King

All these men were leaders of courage, vision and determination.
I'm a big movie buff:

Lincoln

Darkest Hour
The Candidate
The Best Man
Braveheart
The Patriot
Chariots of Fire
Executive Suite
Books: Ship of Fools by Tucker Carlson
Team of Rivals

Leadership by Doris Kearns Goodwin

Leadership

Superior communications skills, both written and oral
To represent at all times the very best interests of his district, his state and the nation.
A life dedicated to serving God and others
That my children and grandchildren continue to live in the greatest nation on earth
Working as a bag boy at the local supermarket while in high school. Three years.
The Bible -- because it contains ultimate truth and wisdom for living life to its fullest and best
Tied:

Don Walley in the film Executive Suite
Trusting God more.

Trusting myself less.

Patience
It is the People's House. Where the voice, will and very best interests of the American people should find expression and representation.
Terrorism, both international and domestic

Our deep and growing internal political divisions
China --economically and militarily

Russia --militarily
I will need to study the committees and their work more thoroughly to make that well-informed decision. Committees that address economic issues and energy issues.
I strongly support term limits. I'm the only candidate in this race who does.
I'm always moved by the personal stories of constituents. Their struggles, hopes and dreams. I've been most especially moved when my college students told me that I inspired them to register and vote.
