A vote to recall Jack van Haaster from his office as Mayor of Murrieta, California in Riverside County took place in 2005, and van Haaster was recalled.[1]
In Murrieta, van Haaster was targeted for recall because he called one-on-one meetings with members of the Murrieta planning commission to talk about a plan his daughter had to open a day care center. Recall supporters said he had a conflict of interest.
Murrieta had a population of about 44,200 at the 2000 census.
