Jackie Lee earned a B.A. in international relations from the University of Delaware. In 2002, Lee was a manager of a field office for the Democratic Party of South Dakota during former South Dakota Senator Tim Johnson's re-election campaign. Next, she worked for the Democratic Party of Louisiana during former Senator Mary Landrieu's run-off campaign following the 2002 general election.[1]

In 2003, she worked in Iowa as the regional field director for former North Carolina Senator John Edwards's 2004 presidential campaign. Lee worked as the Delaware state director for Americans United to Protect Social Security in 2005. The organization, which is now Americans United for Change, is a progressive political advocacy organization that aims to support "legislation coming out of the Obama White House." After Edwards suspended his campaign, Lee worked as the general election director for President Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign in Florida. [2][1]

In 2010, Lee worked as the executive director of Fair Districts Now, an advocacy group that focuses on redistricting reform in Florida. The group supported amendments to the Florida Constitution such as the Florida Legislative District Boundaries, Amendment 5 (2010) and the Florida Congressional District Boundaries, Amendment 6 (2010). She became the Florida lead for Know Your Care, an advocacy group supporting Obamacare, in 2011.[2][6][7]

During President Barack Obama's re-election campaign in 2012, Lee worked as a senior advisor for the campaign in Florida. She also managed advocacy campaigns that supported retention of the three justices of the Florida Supreme Court who were up for election in the 2012 Florida judicial elections.[2][8]
