Married for 30+ years, our children were born in Maricopa County. Always actively involved in my children's education, from classroom volunteer; PTA/PTO; Site Council member; Career Day Organizer; activity driver. Parental involvement makes stronger families and stronger schools. Proud USMC Mom!
  • Parents Have the Ultimate Say. No one is more important in the life and decision making process of a child’s life than the parent. Today, education is a national news and kitchen table topic, and has become more about adults and politics than children. This doesn't mean every district or teacher in the country is "guilty". Let’s open things up, with full transparency, ease those concerns and restore trust. If nothing is hidden, then there is nothing to hide. Let’s set boundaries around what is what is taught in schools, and what should be taught in the home, based on the parent’s right to guide their children appropriately. Let's refocus on ACADEMICS and pursuit of excellence.
  • Teacher Pay and Teacher/Student Retention - we have lost an alarming amount of teachers over the past few years. In addition, less than 50% of kids in the district attend school in the district. We need to investigate and evaluate why this is happening and how we can course correct. High turnover rates have a negative impact on quality education (our children.) Cave Creek Unified School District is losing good quality teachers due to substantially lower pay than surrounding districts. Let’s find out where money is available, or where we can procure it and fix this.
  • Let's Focus on Academic Excellence! The purpose of Cave Creek schools is to academically prepare our children to become competent, responsible adults ready for the real world. Falling academic achievement in Cave Creek Unified School District is alarming. Let's determine what we must implement to turn things around. Children will rise to the level of expectation that we set for them and human potential thrives in the right environment. Every child, regardless of circumstances, has the ability to go far in life. Let’s uplift each child to believe in themselves and their abilities, through high expectations and the encouragement to hit their goals.
From a school board perspective:

Academic Excellence

Transparent curriculum and a return to what schools are there to teach, and moving away from overreach in certain areas.

School and student Safety

Compensating teachers fairly

Stop surveying our children with inappropriate, and intrusive questions that have nothing to do with the student's education or the school's role.
John F Kennedy, for his words - Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. And, Martin Luther King, JR - for his "I have a dream" speech. And, Ronald Reagan, for his great communication skills and mild mannered way of approaching things.

By listening and communicating what I hear to the appropriate people.
I am already networked in the community and attend local Chamber and networking events and breakfasts. I have hosted meet and greets to listen and learn.
Again, listening and communicating concerns and positive remarks to the appropriate people, and then working closely with the superintendent and the rest of the School Board to act in the best interests of our children.
