Bossman's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[9]
Expanding economic opportunity
- Excerpt: "Siouxland, economically, is about to break out. By focusing on specific needs such as workforce recruitment and housing, local businesses will be able to add jobs, expand, and create an environment where others will want to join."
Strengthening education
- Excerpt: "I will advocate for common sense education policies that stem from the principles of local control, parent involvement, and healthy competition. We must keep the government from getting between the teachers and the students so that our teachers are allowed to teach and our students are allowed to learn."
Renewable and sustainable energy
- Excerpt: "We in Iowa have the abundant natural resources to be energy independent, to not be beholden to the OPECs of the world. I will push for policies that spur Iowa innovation by reducing burdensome regulations that are often a barrier to innovation."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
