Campaign themes

2016

Bramel's website highlighted the following campaign themes:

Agriculture- Agriculture is a large portion of Illinois' economy. The average age of a farmer continues to rise in Illinois while beginning farmers can't afford to purchase the land, equipment and implementation to start a competitive farming operation. Jacob will approach legislative options to support beginning farmers.

Fiscal Responsibility- Illinois has not currently had a balanced budget since 2001. The language in the Illinois Constitution states that lawmakers cannot authorize spending more money in a budget year than the state expects to take in. If elected, Jacob will support a balanced budget every fiscal year.

Free Market Principles- Current state regulations make it nearly impossible for Illinois residents to start or own a business. Since the recession, Illinois has been the 4th worst state for job growth. All businesses provide jobs, create competition, improve innovation and are vital to a stable economy. If elected, Jacob will repeal ineffective legislation that hinders Illinois’ economy, business ownership, and job growth. He will work to create a competitive environment to compete with other states for businesses and jobs.

Education- Although funding for Illinois schools has increased in recent years, the state education rankings have fallen. Jacob will address this issue by putting the students first. He will continue to adopt time-proven principles to raise the education levels for all students in all school districts.

Veteran Services- As a military veteran, Jacob supports all past, present and future military members. Currently Illinois Veteran Affairs Administration is still backlogged on pension and compensation claims for service members despite the overhaul by the federal government. All military members continue to endure hardships post military service. As a prior service member he has been through this process and has an understanding of where improvements need to be made. Jacob will vow to find areas to cut federal bureaucratic red tape at the state level to enhance the health care and services provided to military and veterans.

Illinois Pension Crisis- Currently, Illinois has the worst funded pensions with only about 45% of its pension obligations bankrolled. Illinois chose to under fund its pensions to fund other obligations. This means over $80 billion is currently unfunded because the state has not set aside the money. Jacob will work to identify the problems to find proven solutions to take care of this pension crisis once and for all.

Pro-life- The constitution protects all life under the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause and without due process. Jacob is a staunch defender of life calling abortions a tragedy. He will work to preserve the taxpayers from funding abortions in Illinois.

2nd Amendment- As a hunter, a recreational shooter and a prior service member, Jacob is an avid supporter of the 2nd Amendment rights. He is a lifetime member of the NRA and recognizes America’s founding father’s included the 2nd Amendment to prevent the threat of tyranny. He will be a righteous voice for law-abiding gun owners and concealed carry permit holders. Jacob supports pushing Illinois to become a constitutional carry state. [1][2]
