Ballotpedia biographical submission form

The candidate completed Ballotpedia's biographical information submission form:

What is your political philosophy?

Do what I’ve said I’ll do when elected, and do it full-time. The California Senate does not pay part-time money and should be treated like a full-time job with overtime worked out of love and at my own expense. [2]

—Jacob Mason[1]

Candidate Connection

Jacob Mason participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on May 29, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Jacob Mason's responses follow below.[3]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

- Bringing full-time jobs to the area that will pay the California minimum wage of $15 an hour such as manufacturing jobs

- Keeping cheaper housing for small households such as 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and condominiums cheaper, in spite of homeowners who may love inflation in housing prices

- Moving towards a sustainable green and clean energy future with a combination of wind, solar, and hydroelectric power so California remains healthy and prosperous 100 years from now[4][2]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

- Universal healthcare and single payer, covering everybody fully for less money than we currently spend to cover some Californians partially

- Reducing traffic congestion

- Big rig parking

- Giving bicyclists, skateboards and those on foot more freedom and having them watch out for each other and motor vehicles but not police per seCite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[2]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Jacob Mason answered the following:

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

- Civil War by GNR https://youtu.be/qxjssmWaZDY[2]
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
- Dealing with the many everyday struggles[2]
What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?
- Getting things done in advance to prevent a major and clear catastrophe for most all Californians in terms of jobs, making housing cheap enough for poorer folks, green energy moving into the future with fossil fuels running out, having enough personal freedom, and police that help, not to mention universal healthcare that is cheaper, reducing traffic congestion, and solving the homelessness crisis[2]
Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
- Bernie Sanders but not 100% more like Bernie Sanders if he had a background as an over the road truck driver, so Bernie Sanders combined with myself[2]
Are you interested in running for a different political office in the future?
- Potentially District Supervisor from Sacramento County District 5[2]
