I'm Jacob Yuryev and i'm running to serve the parents, students, and families in our district. I'm a Carlmont High School alum and a Stanford Student, and my senior year of high school I served as a Student Board Member on our Sequoia Union High School District Board. As a former Student Board Member, I have seen how the SUHSD can improve on their mission of providing academic excellence, safety, and transparency for ALL students in our district. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to chat at jacobforsuhsd@gmail.com.
  • Opportunity for ALL Students:

Restore AS/Honors and remedial courses to ensure that class offerings meet the needs of ALL students. Prioritize pathways to career readiness through expanded vocational training in the District. Focus on fundamental academic achievement using data-driven teaching practices.

Support and resources for students struggling academically.
  • Student Health and Safety: Prioritize student mental health through in-school and community resources. Enhance student peer support programs. Prioritize anti-bullying initiatives. Employ state-of-the-art technologies and best practices to keep SUHSD campuses safe.
  • A Transparent and Collaborative Board: Improved SUHSD Board communication with District Families and the Community. More SUHSD Board accountability through improved public engagement. Adhere to a quarterly public update schedule on Board initiatives, District goals, and student achievement metrics. Actively gather feedback from students, parents, and staff, ensuring their voices guide decision-making.
I am simply passionate about providing the most high quality public high school education possible for our students. I am committed to working as hard as possible to ensure that that is the case.
Integrity, accountability, transparency, empathy, competence, and commitment to public service.
My very first job was working at the Mathnasium right across the street from Sequoia High School. Tutoring students that already were or would soon be a part of our school district was an amazing experience that made me fall in love with education and commit myself to improving our public schools.
I am proud to have been endorsed by the San Mateo Daily Journal, Congressman Ro Khanna, State Senator Josh Becker, the San Mateo County Asian American Pacific Islander Alliance, and many more. Here is a partial list:

Former CA State Controller Steve Westly
SMC Supervisor Ray Mueller, Dist. 3
SMC Harbor Commissioner/Dir. Menlo Park Fire Board Member, Virginia Chang Kiraly
