I'm Jacqui Berger, Deputy Supervisor and Councilmember for the Town of Amherst. I've served as a teacher, labor leader, advocate, activist, and most recently as elected official. I have spent my life in service to underserved communities, ensuring that children, families, and people with disabilities have an active voice in all circles in which we live. I'm a faculty member/mentor at SUNY Empire State College. I raised 3 children as a single parent. I am an advocate for people with disabilities and have run a Challenger Baseball Program for Children and Adults with Disabilities since 1991. Inclusion, diversity, and dignity for all are values I hold near to my heart. Through my work with New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), both locally and nationally, I've fought for the rights of students and teachers. As your State Senator, I will take my passion and energy to Albany to fight for all of us. I will be the voice that speaks up and out for my district and Western New York. I don't just believe in these ideals; I roll up my sleeves and get to work.
  • I will champion public education for Pre-K - 12 and colleges
  • I will work to improve the economy for working families and the middle-class.
  • I'm committed to making sure clean air and water are the lasting legacy we leave behind for the next generation. I will work to preserve the environment safeguarding our land, water, air and wildlife for future generations
As a teacher and educator I am passionate about public education. I will champion safe schools and quality education. We need to fully fund and support public education - Pre-K through College. We need to invest in early childhood and child care programs. I will stand up and fight for the resources our children - all children deserve.

I will never stop fighting for the things that matter most. Good jobs and benefits at a living wage. I will work to improve the economy for working families and the middle-class. I will continue to fight to create high-paying jobs, helping small businesses, and supporting family farms.

I'm committed to making sure clean air and water are the lasting legacy we leave behind for the next generation. I will work to preserve the environment safeguarding our land, water, air and wildlife for future generations.

I am passionate about working for social, racial and economic justice.

Honesty and integrity are the most important principles for elected officials. Listening and talking with constituents is also important.
I will bring energy, dedication, and a tireless work ethic to the state senate. I listen and engage with people, both the people I work with and community members.
Building relationships is the key to working effectively. I feel cultivating and investing in relationships with other legislators is critical to building coalitions and getting work done.
As an educator I would like to be a member of the education committee.
Talking to community members is essential. Hearing people share their concerns about how they are going to feed their families and pay their bills is troubling. I've heard so many versions of this story, it motivates me to take action.
