Because this race could not move to a runoff, the candidate with the most votes was declared the winner, regardless of whether he or she won a majority.[2] The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 17, 2015.[3] In the District 8 Position 3 race, Jacqueline Camper, Martavius D. Jones and Mickell Lowery faced off in the general election on October 8, 2015. Incumbent Myron Lowery did not run for re-election.[4] Jones won the general election.[5]
