The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Michael A. Jackson defeated LaRhonda R. Owens and Jacqueline D. Steele McCall in the Democratic primary, while Philip A. Parenti defeated Toni Jarboe-Duley by 17 votes in the Republican primary. Jackson defeated Parenti in the general election.[1][2]
