Jacqueline Griffin (Florida)
Jacqueline R. Griffin was a judge on the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeal. She was appointed to the court in 1990 by former Governor Bob Martinez. Griffin was last retained to the court on November 2, 2010, to a six-year term that began on January 4, 2011.[1] Griffin retired from the court in April 2014.[2]
Education
Griffin received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1968, her master's degree in teaching from the University of Florida in 1970, and her J.D. degree from the University of Florida in 1975. She is also a graduate of the New York University Program for Intermediate Appellate Judges in 1990.[3]
Career
Immediately following her admission to the Bar, Justice Griffin became a practicing attorney in Orlando from 1975 to 1990. She joined the board of directors for the Kathleen Anderson Work Opportunity Center in Seminole County from 1983 to 1986. She became a partner at Boroughs, Grimm, Bennett & Griffin, P.A. in 1983, and remained at that position until 1989. She then served as a member of the University of Florida Law Center Council from 1985 to 1988 and on the board of directors for the RESPOND Rape Crisis Center in 1988. In 1990, she was appointed to the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeal by Governor Bob Martinez. In 1992, Griffin joined the faculty at the Advanced Judicial College and Florida Judicial College, and became the interim dean of the Appellate Judicial College in 1994. From 1997 to 1999, she served as the chief judge of the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeal.[3]
