Jacques A. Sanborn is a judge of the 34th Judicial District, Division E in Louisiana. He was first elected to this position on November 20, 1999. He was re-elected without opposition in 2008 and 2014, and his current term expired on December 31, 2020.[1][2][3]

Noteworthy events

On April 29, 2010, Sanborn was cited for driving under the influence (DWI) after his Dodge Charger collided with another vehicle. A Louisiana state police trooper conducted a field sobriety test and reportedly smelled alcohol on Sanborn's breath. A police spokeswoman said the judge was taken to a hospital but "refused to submit to a blood test."[4]

As an unopposed candidate, he was automatically re-elected without appearing on the ballot. [5]

Education

Sanborn earned a B.A. from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, going on to receive his J.D. from Loyola University - New Orleans. He was admitted to the state bar in 1981.[6]
