Jai Templeton was the Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture. He assumed office on May 1, 2016. He left office on December 31, 2018.

Templeton (Republican Party) ran for election to the Tennessee State Senate to represent District 26. He lost in the Republican primary on August 6, 2020.

Templeton was first appointed as commissioner in April 2016 by Governor Bill Haslam and served until 2019.[1] Templeton replaced outgoing commissioner Julius Johnson, who announced his resignation on March 21, 2016. Johnson had served since 2011.[2]

Prior to his appointment, Templeton served as Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture, having joined the department in 2011. Templeton also served as the mayor of McNair County and is a sixth generation farmer.[3]
