Jaime Rios was a justice of the Queens County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the 11th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to this position in 1995 and was re-elected in 2009.[1][2] He retired on December 19, 2013.[3]

Education

Rios received his B.S. degree from the City University of New York, City College in 1969 and his M.A. degree from New York University in 1972. He then earned his J.D. degree from the Fordham University School of Law in 1977.[1]

Career

Rios began his career in 1977 as an assistant Kings County district attorney. He then worked as a deputy commissioner and special counsel to the N.Y.C. Police Department from 1980 to 1984. He also started teaching as an adjunct professor at Fordham University School of Law in 1992.

Rios began his judicial career in 1985 when he was appointed to the New York City Housing Court. He was then elected to the New York City Civil Court of Queens County in 1994. The following year, he was elected to the Queens County Supreme Court.[1]
