Jake Braun is the Iowa state director for former Vice President Joe Biden's (D) 2020 presidential campaign. A veteran of the 2008 Obama presidential campaign, Braun was hired by Biden on May 17, 2019.[1] In addition to working on the Biden campaign, Braun is the Executive Director for the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy’s Cyber Policy Initiative.[2]

Career

Braun served as the White House Liaison to the Department of Homeland Security under President Barack Obama (D) from 2009 to 2011. Prior to joining the Obama administration, Braun served on Obama's presidential transition team in 2008 and was the National Deputy Field Director to the 2008 Obama for America Campaign.[2] Before working on the Obama campaign, Braun served as the Michigan Field Director for John Kerry's (D) 2004 campaign.[3]

In addition to his work at the Harris School of Public Policy, Braun also serves as the CEO of Cambridge Global Advisors, a consulting firm focusing on security, diplomacy, and defense. He also co-founded the Voting Machine Hacking Village at DEF CON, the world's largest hacker conference. As part of his work with DEF CON, Braun has co-authored two reports on cyber vulnerabilities in election infrastructure.[4]

Prior to entering the consulting field, Braun worked as a journalist for newspapers in Illinois and Taiwan.[2]

Braun graduated from Loyola University of Chicago with a B.A. in philosphy, from National-Louis University in Chicago with an M.A. in education, and from Troy State University with an M.A. in international relations.[2]
