Jake is a proud teacher, union organizer, democratic socialist, and neighbor in Jersey City’s Heights. A longtime organizer and activist, Jake has worked on political campaigns like Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential race, and worked with 1199SEIU alongside nurses and nursing home workers to win improvements on the job. In 2022, Jake led the Right to Counsel campaign in Jersey City and won a guarantee of legal representation for tenants in housing court. He was unconstitutionally arrested while peacefully protesting Hudson County’s contract with ICE. He’s also organized locally for a ceasefire in Gaza and advocated expanded rights for non-citizens in Jersey City. Now Jake is running for city council in Ward D to bring universal rent control, universal childcare and safe, clean green streets to Jersey City.
