Hoog was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 68 of the Indiana House of Representatives.

Hoog was a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 27 of the Indiana State Senate. He ran unsuccessfully for District 68 of the Indiana House of Representatives in 2012.

Hoog served as the Dearborn County Democratic Party chairman.[1] In 2010, Hoog ran for Dearborn County Council.[2]
