A Pima County resident since 7th grade, Jake has always valued community service and worked hard to give back to the community he loves. At the age of 18, Jake founded the Survivor Shield Foundation, one of the first nonprofits in the State Of Arizona to provide emergency relief financial aid to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. In just two years of leading Survivor Shield, he has transformed it into one of the highest rated sexual assault service providers in Arizona, offering a multitude of programs that directly serve hundreds of our neighbors in need. Jake has been the one to respond to domestic violence and sexual assault, he has seen the direct impact of the lack of accessible social services in our community, the impact of the fentanyl crisis, and the damage done when the government looks the other way. As a business founder, a job creator, and a social worker, Jake has a plethora of hands-on experience serving our community. A committed advocate for Democratic values, helping those in need, and building a better Pima County, Jake is ready to serve.
  • Jake has led the charge for low-income survivors of sexual assault in Arizona. He has a unique perspective on what makes our agencies successful, and what doesn't. Jake is committed to investing in and reforming our most important social service agencies and nonprofits. Whether it's creating a more accessible grant program for our communities most impactful nonprofits, or streamlining Pima County's government-led social services, Jake is dedicated to fixing our community's safety net.
  • Every day, Jake works closely with homeless individuals . Every day, Jake sees where we fail them, and how we can do better. Pima County needs to take real and actionable steps towards rapid rehousing initiatives with tangible results. We need accountability, transparency, and efficacy. We don't need more vague and unenforceable legislation that will never actually reach those in need.
  • It's absolutely critical that we protect our shared future by investing in green practices and policies. As a candidate who does not take contributions from home-developers, PACs, or corporations, it's in my best interest to fight hard for our environment. I will strengthen zoning regulations to protect wildlife and natural habitats, advocate for robust enforcement and oversight of development projects, and promote smart growth strategies to minimize urban sprawl and preserve open spaces. Additionally, I am a strong advocate for solar subsidies to incentivize renewable energy adoption and county divestment from oil to align with our commitment to environmental sustainability.
I envision a future with substantial investments in green energy, renewable building practices, and stricter regulations for new developments. These steps are essential for building a stronger and more sustainable community. As Supervisor, I will prioritize the establishment of the Family Advocacy Center, expand access to public transit, and enhance community safety through increased social service investments. By focusing on these initiatives, we can work towards a better future for all residents of our community.
The most important characteristics and principles for an elected official include integrity, transparency, and accountability. I will always act with honesty and strong moral principles, making decisions that are in the best interest of my community. Both professionally and personally, I have committed myself to transparency. Transparency builds trust by allowing constituents to see and understand the decision-making process. Accountability means being responsible for my actions and decisions, ensuring that I remain answerable to the people I serve. It's also important that those we elect have actually served our community. Every day when I go into work, I'm on the frontlines of major issues that our neighbors are facing. Whether it's being an advocate in a hospital, a shelter, or on the streets, I've done it.
I believe that I will be a successful officeholder because of my hands-on experience with the needs of this community. Not only have I worked in social service, I've worked in the County jail, I've done outreach on our streets, and I've met a myriad of different people along the way. When you actually talk to the people that you're trying to help, you get a much better insight into how you can help them. In my eyes, one of the biggest problems that our government has is that they refuse to talk to people. When we pass big pieces of legislation that are designed to help people out of poverty, how can we know what their needs are if not a single impoverished or homeless person was even consulted? Looking over marginalized populations needs to stop. As someone who has actually written policy that pulled people out of poverty, I actually know how to do it. What makes me best fit for this office is simply my experience, my vision, and our collective hope for a better future.
For the holders of this office, I believe that a combination of leadership, empathy, and practical experience is essential. My work with Survivor Shield has honed my skills in crisis management, program development, and community outreach. This job has given me unique insight into the challenges faced by marginalized populations and the systemic issues within our social services. Effective communication and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders are crucial for understanding and addressing the needs of our community. Additionally, expertise in social services and a commitment to equity and justice are vital. These skills enable an officeholder to create and implement policies that genuinely benefit all residents, particularly the most vulnerable.
National Organization For Women (Arizona PAC)
March For Our Lives (Catalina Foothills)
I believe that financial transparency and government accountability are fundamental to building and maintaining public trust. That’s why I have committed to not taking corporate, PAC, or business money in my campaign. I am the only candidate in this race dedicated to this level of financial transparency and responsibility. By refusing these contributions, I ensure that my decisions are solely guided by the best interests of our community, free from outside influence. I am committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability, ensuring that every action I take as an elected official is transparent and accountable to the people I serve.
