Jake Teshka is a principled leader with life experience that will champion commonsense solutions to get our community back on track. In his first term as State Representative, Jake has worked to increase government transparency, provide access to a quality education for every student and cut taxes for working Hoosiers.

Jake is a lifelong resident of the Saint Joseph County area, who graduated from St. Joseph High School in South Bend before obtaining a Bachelor's degree from Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana. He then went on to earn his Master of Public Affairs degree from Indiana University - South Bend.

Jake has spent his career working in both private and public sector roles to make a positive impact on his community and currently works in business development. Prior to his election to the Indiana House of Representatives, Jake served on the South Bend City Council representing the 5th District.
  • Jake will allways fight to protect the lives of the unborn.
  • Jake has fought and will continue to fight to ensure parents have a say in what their children are learning at school.
  • Jake co-authored the largest tax cut in Indiana history.
As the father of two young children, Jake is most passionate about education issues - knowing that every education vote will directly affect his family. In his first term, Jake has fought to expand school choice so that no child is sentenced to an inferior education simply because of their zip code or family income, worked to take divisive concepts and politics out of the classroom and authored a bill that expands access to youth apprenticeships.

I am currently the 5th District Councilman in South Bend, Indiana. I have a Bachelors in Political Science and a Master of Public Affairs. I have made a career in business development. I am a proud husband, father of two and Christian who believes that the government closest to the people should be the most impactful.
  • Hoosiers need to be sure that more of our educational dollars are reaching the classroom and not funding bloated school administrations.
  • As mental health issues continue to impact our daily lives through the scourge of addiction, violence and homelessness, we need to ensure there are adequate resources in our state for our neighbors in need.
  • I will fight, against popular culture, to defend the sanctity of life in our state.
I am personally passionate about issues of economic freedom, education and life.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Indiana

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
