|Jamaal began his career working with seniors in various assisted living facilities dedicating many years to enhancing the quality of life for all seniors. To help put himself through school, he worked as a server, and dishwasher, and was later promoted to various lead/supervisory roles as a result of his hard work. In 2014, Jamaal decided to change his career to focus on serving students in the university setting and has been working with students ever since.
Jamaal has always been heavily involved in the political process. He prides himself on being a voting rights and human rights advocate. He volunteered for the Hillary for America campaign as well as the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris 2020 campaign.- In the richest country on the planet, no one should go bankrupt or lose their healthcare because they lost their job. If we have learned anything over the last two years, it is that healthcare should not be tied to employment. We must fight to add a public option to ObamaCare.
- The housing crisis is prevalent across all states regardless of how we perceive them as red or blue. When I am elected to Congress, I will fight to increase low-income housing as well as devote resources that addresses the root causes of homelessness to include access to mental health resources as well as substance abuse resources.
- Big banks should not be building profits on the backs of the people. When I am elected to Congress, I will fight to cap interest rates on credit cards as well as cap overdraft fees. I will also work to establish postal banking so that everyone in the United States has access to banking without having to pay outrageous fees to cash their pay check.
