Jamal Osman
Jamal Osman is a member of the Minneapolis City Council in Minnesota, representing Ward 6. He assumed office on August 28, 2020.
Osman (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Minneapolis City Council to represent Ward 6 in Minnesota. He won in the general election on November 4, 2025.
Elections in Minneapolis are officially nonpartisan, but the Minneapolis City Charter allows mayoral and city council candidates to choose a party label to appear below their name on the official ballot. Biography
Jamal Osman was born in Somalia and moved to the United States from Kenya when he was 14 years old. He obtained a degree from Metro State University. Osman's professional experience includes working as a resident advocate in the nonprofit sector and as a certified mental health trainer. As of 2020, Osman was working for a nonprofit called CommonBond Communities. He also was on the board of Philips Neighborhood Clinic.[2]
