James A. Edwards is a judge of the Florida 5th District Court of Appeal. He assumed office on November 14, 2014. His current term ends on January 2, 2029.
Edwards ran for re-election for judge of the Florida 5th District Court of Appeal. He won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.
He was appointed to the court by Republican Governor Rick Scott to fill a position created by the 2014 Florida State Legislature.[1]
Edwards was retained by voters in 2016 and in 2022.
Education
Edwards received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University in 1976 and his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law in 1979.[1][2]
Career
From 2011 until his appointment to the Fifth District Court of Appeal in 2014, Edwards was a shareholder at the law firm of Zimmerman, Kiser, Sutcliffe, PA. He previously practiced law with the firm of Rumberger, Kirk and Caldwell, PA.[1]
