Primary: He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2014.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 43.2 percent of the vote. He competed against Sol Casseb III. [1][2]

Rickerson received his undergraduate degree and J.D. from St. Mary's University of San Antonio.[3]
