James is proudly married to Suzanne Duncan (5th generation Arkansas), and is father to Grace and Henry. His family lives in Little Rock. He is an attorney at Duncan Firm, and has practiced law for 19 years, fighting for people and small businesses his entire career. He is licensed in Arkansas, Florida, New York, California, Connecticut, DC, numerous federal courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court. James' legal work has helped recoup billions of dollars for his clients. He also has represented and co-found several start-up businesses, helping co-founders create hundreds of jobs.

James graduated from American University in Washington, DC, and earned his law degree at Suffolk University Law School in Boston. James served as a Fellow for Arkansas Congressman Vic Snyder, interned for Senator Joe Lieberman, and interned at the White House for President Clinton. James is the son of two retired public school teachers.

As a Christian, James will lean on his faith as his moral compass for governing. As an attorney that took an oath to protect and defend the US and Arkansas Constitutions, James believes that equal protection under the law is critical for a safe, fair, and free democratic society.

  • Public Education means only public dollars must spent on public schools.
  • Checks and Balances along with transparency are required at the Statehouse, not one party rule and frivolous spending by the Governor
  • Limited government means equal justice under the law and protecting everyone's freedoms and Constitutional rights
-Access to maternal healthcare for all Arkansans (currently ranked dead last for maternal mortality)

-Improving Arkansas' public schools, including adding vocational and tech-focused high school curriculum
-Investing in infrastructure (sewer, water, roads, quality public schools) that welcome growth for new business
-Keeping the courts fair and independent, not hacked by dark money and shady special interest groups

-Protecting healthcare choices made by a family and their doctors, not the government
I remember the fall of the Soviet Union and communist. I was 12 years old. I also recall the Challenger Space Shuttle crash in 1986 when I was 3.
I worked for my family's house painting business as a painter. I started when I was 12 years old and worked until I went to college.
