  • Keep corporate lobbyists from setting the agenda in DC
  • Put an end to partisan grandstanding
  • Working to enact legislation that benefits all Kansans
Kansas needs robust right to repair legislation to empower farmers to fix their own equipment. It is beyond time that we end the federal prohibition on marijuana, providing new revenue streams for states, less water intense crops for our farmers and allowing our police to focus on more serious crimes. Our children deserve a renewed focus on public education, reimagining school accountability and deemphasizing the excessive testing requirements we currently face.

Campaign website

Beard's campaign website stated the following:

STRENGTHEN PUBLIC EDUCATION

Education is the backbone of the economy, yet too often it is the first to be cut when budgets are tight. Education is an investment into the creativity and entrepreneurship of our future and it should be valued as such.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM

America is the land of the free, and yet more of our people are behind bars, per capita, than anywhere else in the world. We can and must do better for our communities. Jimmy supports the end of cash bail.

LEGALIZE MARIJUANA

Jimmy supports the full legalization of marijuana, expunging any past marijuana conviction and releasing anyone who has been arrested solely on non-violent, marijuana related charges.

HEALTHCARE IS A HUMAN RIGHT

Every single person should have access to and be able to afford healthcare. No one should have to choose between paying rent or a hospital bill. Jimmy supports the transition to Medicare for All.

TAX REFORM

Billionaires paid an average 8.2% income tax rate between 2010 and 2018, while the average American paid over 13%. When the richest Americans skip out on the tab, the rest of us have to pick it up.

EQUALITY FOR ALL

Americans deserve equal rights and protections under the law regardless of skin color, sexual orientation, gender identity or religious beliefs.[1]
