James Belson
James Belson was a judge on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. He was appointed to the court as an associate judge by President Ronald Reagan (R) in May 1981; previously he served as an associate judge of the District of Columbia Superior Court from 1968 to 1981.[1][2]
Education
Belson received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1953 and his J.D. from Georgetown Law Center in 1956. He later received an LL.M. from Georgetown Law Center in 1962.[1]
Career
Belson began his law career as a clerk for Judge E. Barrett Prettyman, of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Next, Belson was an officer with Judge Advocate U.S.A. from 1957 to 1960. Before joining the Superior Court, he was an associate, then partner with the firm Hogan and Hartson.[1]
