James Berkley Boyd

James Berkley Boyd is the chief judge of the Colorado 9th Judicial District Court. He was appointed to this position in 2002 and was named Chief Judge in 2006.[1]
Education
Boyd graduated from the University of Denver with an undergraduate degree and then received his J.D. degree from Stanford University.[1]
Career
Boyd worked as a private practice lawyer until his judicial appointment in 2002. He specialized in real estate disputes and family law.[1]

Boyd was retained in the general election on November 6, winning 76.61% of the vote.[2]

Judicial performance evaluation
The Ninth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance announced its recommendations for judges up for retention in 2012. According to its website, the commission evaluates judges based on the following criteria: integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, and administrative performance.[3]
Judge Boyd was recommended for retention by an unanimous vote. [4]
