James Brennan was a judge on the Eighth Judicial District Court in Nevada. He was elected to the court in 1974, and retired from the bench in 1989. He serves as a senior judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court.[1]

Education

Brennan graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1948. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada in 1955. He earned his J.D. from the Hastings College of Law. He was admitted to the Nevada Bar in 1958.[2]

Career

In 1959, Brennan served as deputy district attorney for Clark County. He was elected as a hospital trustee in 1960. He was elected as a Las Vegas justice of the peace in 1964, and was named legal counsel by the Clark County Board of Health in 1967.

In 1968, Brennan was elected with over 70 percent of the vote to the position of county commission. He lost the position in the 1972 election to challenger Richard Ronzone. Brennan was elected to the Eighth Judicial District Court in 1974 and was re-elected in 1978 and 1984. He resigned from the bench in 1989 among allegations of fraud, and Judge Nancy Becker was appointed to fill the remainder of his term. Brennan rejoined the bench on temporary duty in 1990, and he serves as a senior judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court.[2]
