I am a husband, father and attorney. My family has two dogs, both adopted from rescue groups. I graduated from G. Holmes Braddock Sr. High. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida, and I earned my law degree cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2003. I have been a member of the Miami-Dade DEC since 2020. I have over twenty years of community service as a volunteer with the Miami-Dade County Unsafe Structures Board, and over ten years' of service as pro bono legal advisor to a local animal welfare group. I was a poll watcher for the John Kerry and Joe Biden Presidential campaigns. I fight for the causes I believe in, and I have the education, passion and experience to WIN IN NOVEMBER!
  • I have a proven track record of supporting Democratic candidates, ideals and values, and I can win in November. I have been a loyal registered Democratic voter for over twenty years. I have volunteered as a poll watcher for two Democratic Presidential campaigns. I have supported Democratic candidates with my time, talents and treasure. More recently, I became involved with the local Democratic Party, the Miami-Dade DEC. I am the elected Committeeman for District 45. I have lived in West Kendall since 1980. I know well the challenges we face in District 119, and I have the education, experience and skills to represent the needs of our community in the state legislature in Tallahassee.
  • Experience matters. I have volunteered more than twenty years of service to the community as a Member and Chair of the Miami-Dade Unsafe Structures Board. As Chairman of the Board, I made sure that homeowners facing enforcement action brought by the County get a fair hearing. I made sure that interested parties, like neighbors, fellow homeowners and condo unit owners, had an opportunity to speak on cases that affected their property rights. Working with the Miami Coalition Against BSL and local elected leaders, we helped introduce county ordinances that advanced public safety and welfare of people and our canine family members. We also advocated for the local shelter to move towards a No-Kill facility.
  • I am passionate about the causes I support. I bring positive energy and enthusiasm to my endeavors. I am an optimist. I believe that as residents and citizens we deserve a better government. A government more responsive to the needs of the people. A government that is more transparent, that is not run by persons with conflicts or who appear to have conflicts of interest. I believe that elected officials are first and foremost public servants, who represent the best interests of the people of Florida, who will work hard to put Florida's Families First!
As a lawyer, I am passionate about civil rights and civil liberties. We must vigorously defend the right to vote for all eligible voters, and we must defend our civil rights and civil liberties from attack. As resident of Miami-Dade County, who is also an avid boater, sailor, angler, and sports fan, I am passionate about the environment, particularly clean water and healthy marine ecosystems. We must protect our seagrass beds and coral reefs. I support ongoing local efforts to restore the natural beauty of our coral reefs. As a father, I am a strong supporter of our public schools, including our state universities. I attended public schools most of my life. We must increase pay for our teachers and give them the freedom to teach their students and nurture their individual talents. We must protect academic freedom at our public universities. I believe in reading books, not banning them. As a family man, I see the need for more affordable housing, including affordable windstorm insurance. I see the need for better paying jobs and a more diversified economy that invests in the jobs of the future and leads to higher paying jobs. I believe that working men and women should earn a living wage. I believe in increased access to health care, and reducing costs for prescription drugs and health care. I am passionate about solar and wind energy, and renewable energy sources.
If I had to pick a favorite book, it would be The Old Man and the Sea. Why? Because Hemmingway. Because Cuba. Because of the epic battle between the old man, and the fish, and the sea, and the shark.
If I could be any fictional character, I would choose to be your friendly, neighborhood Spiderman.
Over the Rainbow by Israel "Brother Iz" Kamakawiwoʻole. I LOVE his version of that song.
I am terrible at jokes. I can make people laugh, but I am terrible at jokes.
