I have been a resident of Richmond County for 17 years and have had family roots in the county long before that. I am a proud citizen here and have no intention of leaving. My future, and the future of my family will be here in Richmond. That is the reason why I am running for office. I have an invested interest in seeing this county be as strong as it can be now and in the future. I want to help the county continue to grow and be a county that citizens are glad to be apart of, while also as attracting new families to the county. I want to ensure that the citizens voices are heard, and that county resources are being used in a way that will strengthen and support the community. I am currently a Business Instructor at Northeastern Technical College and hold a Masters degree in Business Administration. Throughout my career I have had to lead and teach a wide range of students, employees and management teams and make sure they had the tools they needed to be successful. I was also a graduate from the four year Golden Leaf Leadership Program, a program that participants are tasked with helping and leading rural communities in North Carolina. I believe that my experience through this program, as well as my experience teaching and leading professionally would be a great benefit to Richmond County.
  • Encouraging economic growth and local prosperity. The county needs to be continuously improving and appealing to small businesses as well as larger companies. More businesses means more jobs, while also providing increased income and stability for the county. An increase in jobs offer more career opportunities and revenue streams for citizens, while also bringing in tax revenue that can be used to improve the county.
  • Focus on building communities and local engagement. A county needs to make sure residents voices are heard and that they actually have a say in how the county operates. Without citizens there is no county, so it is imperative residents feel satisfied with the community they live in. Putting a focus on the community increases local engagement, productivity and overall satisfaction.
  • Fiscal responsibility, management and transparency. It is important to ensure that county funds are always used appropriately and in a way that benefits the citizens. When the county does disburse funds, It is essential that the people know what the county is spending money on and why. It is also necessary to properly manage the county facilities and operations by keeping them properly staffed and maintained to make sure services are not interrupted. These actions will help maintain and build trust with the community.
I want the community to feel safe, stable and to see the county as full of opportunities. As a county striving to attract people that want to be a part of it and have hope for the future, I will be supporting ethical policies that supports economic growth. I believe that stability and opportunity is the backbone of any strong community. Economic growth brings in more jobs and higher wages, resulting in increased income and financial stability for the people. More spending in the county also brings in more tax revenue, in turn strengthening the county and making Richmond better equipped to provide for its citizens.
