I am a 16 year veteran of state and local government working in the area of government transparency and records management. I have also been a community musician in the Olympia area for over 16 years as well.
  • We need to ensure that our democracy continues. Without democracy, healthcare would crumble, safety net programs would buckle, and free and fair elections would cease to exist. Without democracy, the United States of America would end.
  • We need to ensure that all of our public schools are funded adequately, if not robustly. A great educational system will help create great communities.
  • One of the biggest elephants in the room is the fact that people cannot afford to keep a roof over their heads. Rent is higher than a mortgage payment and there is no equity to be earned by renting. Homeownership is credit based and is often a barrier to those in lower incomes to being able to afford their own home. We also need to work with the private sector to turn derelict buildings into affordable, sustainable, healthy and clean housing.
Education, equality and equity, affordable housing and improving health care.
President Obama, President Carter. Both excellent presidents and both had historical terms. Both cared about the middle and lower class and worked hard to rebuild them after years of other presidents ignoring them.
The show West Wing comes to mind. The show gives a fictional look at how the federal government, particularly the White House, works. I connect with the values of most of the characters and it gives a human look into how the US is governed.
As a musician, I have learned to work with many different types of people to create something larger than ourselves.
To listen to the voters, evaluate bills to make sure that they do not cause harm to people, and work with affected parties to improve the bills that are being discussed to make sure that they are at the table.
A good working relationship is key, but not one that oversteps either sides bounds.
Tax reform, affordable housing, funding education, and rebuilding infrastructure.
Yes, I believe it is imperative to have government experience so one knows the inner workings and the idiosyncrasies of the legislative and administrative areas.
Yes, these decisions need to be made with others you disagree with. It shows solidarity in leadership and the ability to work with others.
Education, housing and healthcare.
I support it 100%. In fact, I have made a career out of these values.
