Derry resident since 1991. Moved up from Mass never to return! As a retired IRS manager, I am keenly aware how bureaucracies can mess up the best of intentions. I am committed to preserve the New Hampshire tradition of personal freedom and small government.
  • Small government is effective government.
  • No sales or income tax is the envy of the entire nation.
  • Let’s work together to keep New Hampshire the best place in the world to live.
Affordable housing and maintaining the New Hampshire Advantages (plural).
My late father. He worked very hard to grow from very little to become a very successful businessman. The only government assistance he accepted was the opportunity to go to college on the GI Bill after devoting four years to the United States Air Force. He and my mom raised two (in my opinion) successful children, and I strive to make him proud even though he’s no longer with us in body.
I am able to listen to and respect varying opinions on all issues and am able to find common ground and build consensus.
Show up and vote! Although this is pretty much a volunteer position, I intend to treat it as my full time job.
My goal is for my children to be better off than I am. We all have a responsibility to provide future generations with the tools and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.
Assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther king. I was five years old. It was the first time I saw a grown man cry on television.
Fast food kitchen worker. Six months.
The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger. As a teenager I identified in many ways with Holden’s struggles. It doesn’t hurt that the author lived out his final years in New Hampshire or that I have a grandson named Holden.
American Girl by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I’m not sure why.
Saving for a down payment on a home suitable for a blended family with three children.
The Governor needs to remember that he represents ALL New Hampshire citizens not just those of his own party. While the Governor is free to express and advocate for his or her own agenda, he or she must be able to work with legislators of all backgrounds and political bents in order to be effective. The power to veto legislation is a powerful one and must be used judicially. Often compromise is better than inaction.
Available affordable housing for our state’s work force. We have one of the most attractive business environments in the country, but we cannot reach our full potential if there’s no place for our employees and entrepreneurs to live.
Yes. That’s why I am strongly against mandatory term limits. Their institutional knowledge of veteran legislators is invaluable to newcomers such as myself.
Yes. Our House of Representatives has 400 seats. If you cannot forge relationships with people with diverse backgrounds, opinions, and political and personal philosophies, you will quickly find yourself a lonely, ineffective soul.
“Hey, mister. Did you know you have a banana in your ear?”

“I’m sorry,, I can’t hear you. I have a banana in my ear.”
Yes, but only before or after - not during - an emergency and to an extent that’s as limited as possible. Usually in the midst of an emergency, the Governor needs to make quick, confident decisions. He or she does not always have the time to seek concurrence from the legislature and cannot be worried that his or her decisions will be second guessed in the heat of the moment. We need to trust our leaders. There will be time to evaluate the performance when the emergency has passed.
Legalized cannabis with a state-controlled franchise model.
None officially, but I’m getting great feedback.
Municipal and County Government, Public Works and Highways, Special Committee on Housing.
