James Dimitri (b. July 21, 1950, in Somerville, NJ) is a former Virginia State Corporation Commissioner. He was first elected commissioner by the Virginia General Assembly in 2008.[1] He retired on February 28, 2018.[2]

Biography

Dimitri began his career as an attorney with Christian Barton, representing companies before state and federal regulators. From 1983 to 1987 he was the assistant attorney general in charge of representing Virginia consumers in telecom and energy cases. Dimitri joined the SCC staff in 1994, serving until 2000 as a top attorney. He left the SCC for private practice, joining the firm of McGuireWoods.[3]
