James Drake (also known as Jim) is a judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. He assumed office in 2021. His current term ends on January 1, 2029.
Drake ran for re-election for judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. He won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.
He was appointed to the court on October 1, 2021 by Gov. Doug Ducey (R) to replace Roger Brodman.[1]
Biography
James Drake earned his B.A. from the University of Arizona and his J.D. from California Western School of Law.[1] Prior to his appointment, Drake's career experience included the following:
- 2015-2021: Chief Clerk and Counsel for the Arizona House of Representatives
- 2009-2015: Assistant Secretary of State
- 1996-2009: Various positions in the Arizona House of Representatives[1]
