General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 41.2 percent of the vote. He competed against Robert E. Hebert.

Pirtle graduated from Kentucky's Murray State University in 1972, earning B.S. degrees in English and journalism and a minor in geology.[4]
Career
Pirtle is the founder of Best Screw Products, Inc., a Houston-based company specializing in distribution of industrial fasteners.[4][5]
