Recall reports

An effort in Warren, Michigan, to recall Mayor James Fouts from his position was initiated in March 2017. Recall organizer Joseph Hunt filed recall language with the Macomb County Clerk on March 9, 2017.[1] The Macomb County Election Commission rejected six petitions seeking Fouts' recall on March 27, 2017.[2]

Fouts was targeted for recall in 2014, but the petition language was found insufficient by the Macomb County Election Commission on three occasions.

Hunt filed the following rationale for his recall effort:

The clear and factual conduct of the mayor of Warren during the current term of office where a recall from office is necessary: 1) Audiotapes of Fouts –- verified as the Mayor’s voice –- reference children with learning disabilities should be lined up and Kervorianed, and 2) Fouts lied he made the statement.[1][3]
