James Gonzalez is a Roosevelt alumnus and South Phoenix Native, born to a working-class family. He attended South Mountain Community College and later Columbia University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts. Currently, he is a College Success Coordinator at the Be A Leader Foundation guiding students throughout the Maricopa Community College District.

• All students deserve a world-class education that prepares them to succeed in the future.
• Roosevelt is the largest employer in South Phoenix and our incredible staff deserve great pay.
• Every family should have the confidence that their child is in a safe and welcoming school.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I believe in an excellent education for every student, as all students deserve a world-class education that prepares them to succeed in the future. I believe in good pay and benefits for teachers and staff, as Roosevelt is the largest employer in South Phoenix. I believe in safe and welcoming schools for all families, as every family should have the confidence that their child is in a safe and welcoming school.
