Campaign themes

2018

Pilkington's campaign website stated the following:

Healthcare
Medical services for life threatening injuries or illnesses should not be an option in this country, it should be a right.

I believe that no matter what the cost or the name of the plan, quality medical care must be available to all Americans, no matter where they live or what their income.

Economy
It is apparent that for the last six years no one has been fighting for District 15’s economic survival. The result of this neglect is that we have ended up at the far end of the economic dinner table. We sit with our plate outstretched but only receive the leftover scraps from the rest of our nation’s recovery.

National Security
I believe that when America leads, it must be a principled force for peace and prosperity in the world. All people deserve to live in dignity and have their rights respected. Protecting rights and opportunities across the globe helps to ensure domestic stability.

Veterans
Veterans affairs issues should be of concern to all Americans. I believe that our Nation has a sacred and moral responsibility to keep faith with all our veterans and wounded warriors. Those in government must work harder than ever to take care of those women and men who have put their lives on the line to defend us.

Job Creation
Economic growth in District 15 is stagnant primarily due to a failure of leadership from our elected Representative in Washington. In the entire eight years the incumbent congressman has been in office, he never once provided the local business community with any plan for growth or development.

Immigration
Immigration is an issue that reflects who we are as a nation. Our country was built by people of all nationalities that chose to make America their home. We pride ourselves on both our diverse backgrounds and unique cultural heritage while we celebrate our national unity.

Social Security & Medicare
Without Social Security & Medicare, nearly half of America’s seniors would be living in poverty. As your Congressman, I will work to put Social Security on a firm foundation for today’s retirees and plan for its continued existence far off into the future.

As a first step, we must protect any money reserved for Social Security today and prevent it from being used for any other project in the future. [4]
