James Hernandez
James Hernandez (Republican Party) ran for election to the Texas House of Representatives to represent District 34. He lost in the Republican primary on March 1, 2022.
Hernandez was a candidate for mayor of Corpus Christi, Texas. He was defeated in the special election on May 6, 2017.
Biography
James M. Hernandez is a native of Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born in 1985. After graduating from high school, Hernandez completed a training program at the Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend. Hernandez also studied electrical engineering technologies at Del Mar College. As of 2019, he was the owner of and master electrician at Landmark Electric Company.[1][2]

2017
Corpus Christi, Texas held a special election for mayor on May 6, 2017. Former Mayor Dan McQueen, who won election to the position on November 8, 2016, and was sworn in on December 13, 2016, resigned from office in January 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in the special election was March 27, 2017.[3][4] The following candidates ran in the special election for mayor of Corpus Christi.[5]

In response to a question from KRIS-TV about his campaign priorities, Hernandez said, "We need to get on the same page—just unite each other—and then we can focus from there on the roads or water. But we need to get everybody on the same page."[6]
