|- Property Taxes - Replace Property Taxes with Land Value Taxes. Land Value Taxes make land speculation less profitable which reduces the incentive for gentrification and fringe suburban development. Shifting the property tax off of building values and onto land values can make both buildings and land less expensive, thereby making housing more affordable while fostering business growth and employment.
- Sales Taxes / Licensing Fees - Cook County has the highest maximum sales tax of any county in the United States. I will work towards eliminating sales taxes on essential goods and services such as gasoline, food, clothing and personal care products. I will vote against any new taxes or tax increases. Registration and licensing fees are barriers put in place by the government. Reducing or removing these requirements will lead to greater economic growth.
- Mandates - We can not forget the havoc that mandates and lockdowns created in our community. The impact is still being felt by businesses that may never recover and by the children of Cook County that suffered irreparable harm. The County Board President should not have the unconstrained authority to shut down our lives and commerce. Any emergency powers must be highly limited in scope and duration and not automatically renewed without the consent of the board.
