James K. Booras is a judge of the Nineteenth Circuit Court of Illinois.[1] He was appointed to this position by the Illinois Supreme Court on August 15, 2000, and was retained in 2002 and 2008.[2] He was most recently retained on November 4, 2014, for a term that expired on December 6, 2020.[3]

Booras was retained to the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Court with 78.7 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [3] 

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association and participating attorneys rated James K. Booras as Recommended for retention in a 2014 poll.[4]

Education

Booras earned an undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University in 1975, going on to receive his J.D. from Lewis University College of Law in 1979.[2]

Career

From 1991 until his appointment as circuit judge in 2000, Booras served the Nineteenth Circuit as an associate judge. Before joining the bench, he was a city prosecutor in Waukegan, Illinois and ran a private practice in Lake County.[2]
