Polk ran in the 2012 election for Illinois State Senate District 46. Polk lost to incumbent David Koehler and Marvin Bainter in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012. Pat Sullivan ran unopposed in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]
