James Kirsch
James S. Kirsch was a judge on the Indiana Court of Appeals, representing the Second District. He served on the court from 1994 to 2021.
Kirsch was first appointed to the court by Democratic Governor Evan Bayh (D) and assumed office on March 4, 1994. Kirsch was retained in 1996, 2006, and 2016. From March 1, 2004, to February 28, 2007, he served as chief judge of the Indiana Court of Appeals.[1][2] On September 23, 2021, Kirsch retired.[3]
Education
Kirsch received his B.A. with honors from Butler University in 1968 and his J.D. cum laude from Indiana University at Indianapolis Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1974.[1]
Career
Kirsch began his legal career in 1974, practicing with the law firm of Kroger, Gardis & Regas in Indianapolis. In 1988, he became judge on the Marion County Superior Court and served there until his appointment to the Indiana Court of Appeals in 1994.[1]
