James L. Cotton, Jr. is a judge for the Scott County General Sessions Court in Tennessee. He also has jurisdiction in the Scott County Juvenile Court. He has served in this position part-time since 1990. He is based in Oneida.[1][2] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term that expires on August 31, 2022.[3]
Education
Cotton received his B.S. degree from Tennessee Technological University and his J.D. degree from the University of Memphis Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1980.[4]
Career
Cotton joined the general sessions court in 1990 as a part-time judge. He has practiced at the law firm of Cotton & Cooper.[1]
