The Ward 1 seat and at-large seat appeared on the primary ballot on June 14, 2016, as more than two candidates filed for each seat. The top two vote recipients advanced to the general election on November 8, 2016. Incumbent David Bobzien and Sam Kumar defeated James Lewis and Sam Dehne in the primary election for Reno City Council At-Large.
