Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Lloyd's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Limited Government: Our Founding Fathers fought for a better life in America where citizens could enjoy both economic and religious freedom. The Constitution enshrines a limited role for the federal government, and we must restore the Constitution as our guide. I am committed to refocusing government on its core functions outlined in the Constitution, fighting back the growth of the administrative state, and returning those powers intended to rest with the states.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: I will fight for fiscally conservative policies to ensure our country’s solvency and fiscal integrity. Congress must balance the budget by cutting wasteful spending. Policies must encourage strong fiscal stewardship at all levels of government.
  • Personal and Economic Freedom: The Constitution declares one of its leading purposes to be to “secure the Blessings of Liberty for ourselves and our Posterity.” Government should foster an environment where opportunity exists for everyone who wants to seize it. To do so, we must fight Washington’s bureaucracy and its intrusion into our economy. Our laws should rely on free-market principles that allow the private sector to thrive.
  • Respect for Life: We must always foster a culture that respects and values the sanctity of innocent human life. Life begins at conception, and I will stand for policies that recognize the right of every child to live.
  • Faith and Family: A great nation is built on the strength of families and civic institutions. Faith-based and community organizations are increasingly threatened by a government that seeks to impose its value on society. Our leaders must preserve and advance a culture of family values and a culture that respects and preserves religious liberty.
