James Lorenz is a federal judge in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. He joined the court in 1999 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. On October 25, 2009, he assumed senior status.[1][2]

Education

Lorenz graduated from the University of California-Berkeley with his bachelor's degree in 1957 and later graduated from the California Western School of Law with his J.D. degree in 1965.[2]

Judicial career

On the recommendations of U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, Lorenz was nominated by Bill Clinton on March 8, 1999, to a seat vacated by Judge Rudi Brewster as Brewster assumed senior status. Lorenz was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 1, 1999, and received commission on October 2, 1999.[3]
